Transitions are a big part of our everyday living.  Some transitions are positive and exciting such as getting married, landing a new job, or having a new baby.  Others are negative and scary, such as the death of a loved one, family conflict, loss of a job, or financial difficulties.  How we deal with the transitions can make the process of moving forward manageable or can be extremely difficult, where a feeling of being “stuck” can trap us from moving forward.

I found an article the other day on the American Psychological Association website regarding resilience; titled “The Road To Resilience.”  It is a great article discussing how individuals who are resilient are better able to adapt well when faced with some sort of transition than those who are not.  In other words, those who are resilient are able to “bounce back” from a difficult experience and move forward in life.

Everyone has the ability to be resilient - it is a normal trait that we all are capable of.  For some, their ability to be resilient may mature naturally, whereas, others may need a little help and guidance to tap into this trait.

The article offers information on how to build resiliency, as well as, ideas as to how to stay flexible and balance life while dealing with stressful events If you feel that you would like additional help, please call me to schedule a free ½ hour consulation.
